The Port of Sines and the Algarve Authority (APS) participated in several events as part of the UN Oceans Conference, held in Lisbon from June 27 to July 1 of 2022, aiming to promote innovative science-based solutions to launch a new chapter in global action for the sustainability of oceans and the planet.
Taking advantage of the stay of stakeholders related to the Blue Economy, the Blue Finance Event was held, which brought together companies related to the financing of sustainable development projects of the economy of the sea, with special focus on renewable energy.
Digitalization and decarbonization
In partnership with Aicep Global Parques, manager of the Sines Industrial and Logistics Zone, a promotional event was held to promote the potential of Sines in terms of ports and logistics, highlighting the digitalization and decarbonization of logistics corridors accessing the port, with the Nexus project as an example, as well as a vast area for industrial and energy projects especially related to renewable gases, such as hydrogen and ammonia, and industries that benefit from these clean energies; and also the digital hub for the installation of data centers and cable landing stations.
At the opening, this event was attended by the Minister of Economy, António Costa e Silva.

In the Investment Forum, APS also had the opportunity to highlight its role in liaising with stakeholders to create an innovative blue economy, highlighting the importance that the port administration has given to sustainable development and energy transition.
The Economic Forum Portugal/Nigeria event was dedicated to the role that the Port of Sines can assume in the diversification of European energy supply, particularly in the supply of natural gas to central European countries.
These events were an excellent stage to present the opportunities that exist in this port, industrial and logistics platform, strengthening the positioning and international notoriety of the Port of Sines.
