The Port of Sines and the Algarve Authority (APS) and the Cooperative for the Education and Rehabilitation of Disabled Children of Sines and Santiago do Cacém (CERCISIAGO) have been developing a project that aims to strengthen understanding about the role that the Port of Sines plays in the economy. The goal of this project was to integrate the institution’s users in the daily life of this port that is located in their area of residence.
The project began in late 2020, in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic crisis in which the decreed confinements led to a decrease in the activities of CERCISIAGO, and consisted of a joint initiative to elaborate works about the Port of Sines and what it represents for each of the 59 users that integrated the project. Last June 1st marked the culmination of the project with the presentation and delivery of the works to APS.
APS and CERCISIAGO partnership
CERCISIAGO is a cooperative whose mission is to provide welfare to individuals with disabilities and their social integration, developing activities that aim to stimulate users socially, physically and cognitively, strengthening ties with the surrounding community.
The Port of Sines and the Algarve Authority (APS) thanks the dedication of the users of the institution for their delivery and commitment in carrying out the work. These partnerships are extremely relevant to the Port of Sines and one of the pillars of the new management model of Community Manager, seen in the Strategic Plan for the next decade, as they aim to promote closer ties between the port and the community where it operates.
