CEO Maritime, DNVWith more than 25 years of international management experience in the maritime and oil & gas industries, Knut Ørbeck-Nilssen leads DNV Maritime, the global ship and offshore classification society. In his current role as CEO, he is also a member of the DNV Executive Committee. DNV - Maritime sets out to manage risk and ensure the safety and quality of ships and offshore units, striving to safeguard life, property, and the environment. Knut gained substantial technical and management expertise in previous roles, including COO and President of DNV. Knut joined DNV in Oslo as an approval engineer in 1990 and served as a new building surveyor in Japan for two years. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering from the Heriot-Watt University, where he received a First Class Honor’s Degree in Civil Engineering in 1990. In his final year, he was awarded the Watt Club Medal, Heriot-Watt University´s premier award for undergraduate students. He also holds an undergraduate degree from Oslo Polytechnic in Civil Engineering from 1987.
