On September 20th 2022, CULINES, together with Lee & Man Paper Manufacturing limited and Guangzhou Port Group jointly signed trilateral strategic cooperation MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) at the headquarters of Guangzhou Port Group. Mr. Xiaoming Song, the Deputy General Manager of Guangzhou Port Group, Mr. Haozhong Li, Executive Director of Lee & Man Paper and Mr. Raymond Chen, Chariman & Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of CULINES, attended the signing ceremony and witnessed the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding. Trilateral strategic cooperation The three parties will benefit from complementary advantages and mutual dependence Mr. Lingtang Zheng, the Deputy General Manager of Guangzhou Port, Mr. Xuenian Huang, the Director of Logistics of Lee & Man and Mr. Kevin Ding, the Executive Vice President of CULINES jointly signed the MoU as the representatives, respectively. According to the MoU (Memorandum of Understanding), based on the complementary resources advantages and mutual fit of development strategy of each parties, also with the aim of win-win cooperation, bi-directional promotion and shared development goals, the three parties will benefit from complementary advantages and mutual dependence to better build efficient, convenient and economic global supply chain channel. Partnership between Guangzhou Port Group and CULINES Being encouraged by the comprehensive logistics service of Guangzhou Port Group as the carrier, source of import & export from Lee & Man as the support and sufficient shipping capacity from CULINES as the guarantee, the tripartite cooperation will make greater contribution to the development of China’s foreign economic and trade and will strengthen supply chain autonomy of our country in the future. Lee & Man Paper Manufacturing limited Lee & Man was founded in Hong Kong in 1975 and entered in China Mainland for investment in 1979. Lee & Man Paper Co., Ltd was founded in 1994 and was listed on the Main Board of the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong on September 26th 2003. It is the largest papermaking group in Asia and global leader in the industry. At present, the group has 5 paper mills in Dongguan, Changshu, Jiujiang and Yongchuan, etc. covering more than 10,000 acres of land with more than 8000 employees and pulp and paper production of approximately 11 million tons annually.
The CULINES 190TEU container new building “CUL BANGKOK”, was successfully named and delivered at CSSC Whampoa Wenchong Shipyard Guangzhou South Salon point factory. In the ceremony, CULINES mainly invited representatives from cargo owners, merchants, e-commerce logistics, and shipping agencies to witness. Attendees at the ceremony Ms. Li Bin, CEO of Midea Group international logistics sharing platform, named and cut the ribbon for the new building as the godmother. Mr. Chunsen Zhao, the Director of the Standing Committee of the Chinese Chamber of Commerce of Thailand and Thai-china Cultural Exchange Center; Mr. Lijun Nie, the Deputy General Manager of CSSC Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding Company Limited, together with Mr. Wei Ding, the Executive Vice President of CULines jointly attended the ceremony and made the opening speech. Environmentally friendly vessel “CUL BANGKOK” is the third BKKMAX container vessel built and delivered by CULINES, in cooperation with CSSC Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding Company Limited. Such vessel type is energy-saving and environmentally friendly, convenient, and efficient, which is in line with CULINES' management principle of green development. It is one of the most competitive vessel types deployed on Thai Services since it can load more containers under the berthing limit of the Port of Bangkok, which will maximise the utilisation of vessel capacity. Capacity optimsation and ocean services CULINES will, therefore, actively expand and optimise the capacity structure, coordinate intra-Asia, and ocean services and take the market situation of both current and medium to long term into consideration, aiming to provide high-quality and efficient services to all customers. In 2022, CULINES will deliver 4 newbuildings of the same type as “CUL BANGKOK” and 2 2800TEU second-hand vessels in total with five of them already been delivered successfully, which will enhance the competitiveness of CULINES in its Intra-Aisa and medium-range services. Enhancing contribution After 2023, at least 6 newbuildings will successfully be delivered to optimise CULINES' capacity structure in different trading regions. On 29 June 2022, the ceremony for the naming and delivery of CULINES container newbuilding - CUL YANGPU & the signing of the strategic cooperation memorandum on Shipping Industry Fund was held at Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding in Nansha, Guangzhou, China. Huiming Xiang (Chairman at Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding), Kevin Ding (EVP at CULIES), Huiyu Wu (Part Committee Secretary & Chairman at Hainan Financial Holdings), and Jianmin Wang (Port & Shipping COO, Administration Committee of Yangpu Economic Development Zone) attended the ceremony and delivered speeches. Aiqing WU, on behalf of the Administration Committee of Yangpu Economic Development Zone and as the godmother, christened CUL YANGPU and cut the rope. Naming of the newbuild - CUL YANGPU Peng Huang (Chief Engineer of Department of Transportation, Hainan Province), Qiang Wang (Deputy Division Director of Hainan Financial Regulatory Bureau), Jinning Shao (Director of Bureau of Transportation, Ports, and Shipping of Yangpu Economic Development Zone), Xipeng Zhang (Level II Bureau Rank Official of Hainan Marine Safety Administration), Xiaoming Song (DGM of Guangzhou Port Group), Lingtang Zheng (DGM of Guangzhou Port Company Limited), Liwei Zhou (DGM of China Classification Society Guangzhou), and other customers and partners of CULINES totaling more than 100 attended the ceremony. CULINES was founded in September 2005 in Yangpu. For the past 17 years, CULINES has been deep-rooted in Hainan. Naming the newly delivered vessel as CUL YANGPU is a move of CULINES to express the gratitude to Hainan, reward the Yangpu Economic Development Zone, promote the Danzhou-Yangpu integrated development, and support the development of Hainan Free Trade Port. CUL YANGPU - first container vessel named after Yangpu CUL YANGPU is also the first foreign-trade container vessel named after Yangpu, bringing Yangpu a moving name card on the sea. CUL YANGPU is the sister of CUL NANSHA, which was delivered last month. She’s the latest-design 1,930 TEU Bangkok-Max container vessel of Huangpu Wenchong and the second of the four newbuilds on the order-book with Huangpu Wenchong. After delivery, CUL YANGPU will phase in the South China-Thailand SCT service, of which the rotation is Nansha/Shekou/Laem Chabang/Bangkok/Laem Chabang/Nansha. The transit time is 14 days with weekly departure. Strategic cooperation memorandum on shipping industry fund On the same day, CULINES signed a strategic cooperation memorandum on shipping industry fund with the state-owned financial platform - Hainan Financial Holdings. This is a fine example of close cooperation between Hainan local enterprises for the development of Hainan Free Trade Port, the stability of supply chain, and the development of shipping logistics. According to the memorandum, both parties would, in the principle of common development, complementary advantages, shared resources, win-win results and through financial-industrial integration, give full play to their strength in funding sources, project resources, policy support, and industrial expertise for investment cooperation in shipping, land logistics and warehousing, offshore trade, and offshore finance, so as to effectively integrate the logistics industry, increase the base volume of business, attract more industrial resources to Hainan. Also, both parties aim to make the most of the non-governmental funds to develop the Hainan Free Trade Port and seize new opportunities of Hainan for mutually beneficial development. Hainan Financial Holdings Founded on 12 May 2016, Hainan Financial Holdings is the only province-level financial platform approved by the Hainan Government. Hainan Development Holdings, a state-owned financial holding company, is the main initiator of this platform.
