WEG, a pioneer in industrial solutions, recently completed the overhaul and recovery of a vertical mill gearbox at Cimento Tupi in Minas Gerais, Brazil. The service was carried out at WEG's plant in Sertãozinho, São Paulo.

The gearbox, weighing more than 60 tons, drives Cimento Tupi's main mill, which has a nominal capacity of 300 tons per hour of flour. This critical equipment operates 24/7, making regular maintenance essential for continuous and safe operation.

Electrical and mechanical machinery

WEG, recognised worldwide for its expertise in electrical and mechanical machinery, as well as providing maintenance for gearboxes and other rotating equipment, took complete responsibility for the project, ensuring precision at every stage. The project was completed in close collaboration with Cimento Tupi's technical team, which provided detailed operational history for efficient execution.

The services performed by WEG included:

  • Removal of the equipment
  • Complete disassembly for analysis and technical report
  • Recovery and manufacture of parts, such as feet and axles
  • Replacement of bearings and other components
  • Mechanical adjustment and complete reassembly
