Waves Group are pleased to have provided Marine Warranty Surveyor (MWS) services for the construction of the Hiep Thanh nearshore wind farm project – their third offshore wind contract win in Vietnam.

The project nearshore construction is now complete and will be commissioned in the first quarter of the year. Their scope of work included the installation of foundations, WTGs, array cables, and nearshore marine works. The project was managed by the Singapore office with the support of their team in the London office.

National electricity grid

The wind farm has a generating capacity of 78 MW and is located off the coast of Tra Vinh Province, Vietnam, has 18 Siemens Gamesa 4.3 MW wind turbines.

Once commissioned, the project will generate an estimated 295.4-gigawatt-hours per year (GWh/year) of renewable power, which will be transferred to the national electricity grid, providing up to 180,975 households with clean energy. The Hiep Thanh wind farm is a joint venture between EcoTech Tra Vinh Renewables JSC, and its investors, Janakuasa Pte Ltd, Ecotech Vietnam, Climate Investor One, which is managed by Climate Fund Managers (CFM), and ST International.
