The Shipbuilders Council of America (SCA) recognised four Vigor work locations, Ketchikan, Vancouver, Swan Island, and Hawaii for safety performance in 2021.

Vigor completed USS William P. Lawrence (DDG) ahead of schedule in early 2022, returning it to service and keeping our skilled workforce safe every day.

Award recognitions

The team in Hawaii was honoured twice, with the "Significance in Safety Achievement" Award and the "Excellence in Safety" Award, while the other three locations all received the "Excellence in Safety Award."

Hawaii was one of just four facilities nationwide to win the "Significance in Safety Achievement" Award. Together with MHI Ship Repair & Services, the Titan company facilities were 1/3 of all those recognised this year.

Ensuring worker safety

Our top priority is ensuring each person who comes to one of our work sites leaves the same way they arrived"

"This recognition is a testament to the incredible effort of our skilled workers to be safe every day," said CEO Jim Marcotuli.

"Our top priority is ensuring each person who comes to one of our work sites leaves the same way they arrived, by anticipating and preventing hazards. Seeing the awards across the Titan family of companies underscores our commitment to doing the right thing every time."

Enhancement of operation, promotion of safety

SCA honors shipbuilding and repair organisations with the “Excellence in Safety” Award and “Improvement in Safety” Award each year for enhancement of operations and promotion of safety and accident prevention. The “Significance in Safety Achievement” Award is dedicated to shipyards that have had zero fatalities and a total recordable incident rate (TRIR) under 1.0.

Vigor's efforts toward continuous safety improvement embody our Vigor values of Truth, Responsibility, Evolution, and Love. By working safely, Vigor employees are taking care of each other and ensuring no one gets hurt or is unable to work.

Industry safety standards

Our skilled employees can be proud of setting an industry standard on safety, and doing so while achieving great success at completing large, complex projects ahead of schedule in Hawaii," said Adam Beck, EVP of Ship Repair.

"Vigor’s Love value - which notes that we care about the people we work with and the world we live in - demands we maintain our unwavering commitment to ensuring every person works safely every day."
