Valenciaport once again encourages the promotion of female talent and the creation of inclusive opportunities in the maritime and port sector.

As a sponsor of the #LIFE event, a training programme that promotes the power of women in the port industry, the Port Authority of València (PAV) has collaborated in the development of the activities organised to train 45 female managers from various shipping companies, port operators and administrations.

Maritime-port sector

Held this week in Panama, the training event was attended by students from 18 countries in Latin America and Spain. This event on female leadership in the maritime-port sector was organised by PR PORTS LLC Empresa Multimodal S.A.S. with the aim of focusing on the role, power and influence of women in the port industry.

The #LIFE event has also created a space for networking and personal development for the women participants, becoming a catalyst for change and progress in the port industry. One of the pillars of Valenciaport’s business strategy is the promotion of female leadership in the port sector. In fact, the València Port Employment Centre is a benchmark in the incorporation of women in the sector, as 80% of the women stevedores in Spain work in the Port of València.

Coaching and personal branding

It has also collaborated in the development of the event’s programme and sponsored the event

And to continue working in this field, the APV has created a master’s scholarship in the framework of the #LIFE event which has been awarded to the student Nuria Bianco, Marketing Director of Porto Panama. It has also collaborated in the development of the event’s programme and sponsored the event.

In this sense, the Training Director of the Valenciaport Foundation, Ana Rumbeu, has collaborated as a speaker with ‘POWER SKILLS: Promoting female leadership.’ Rumbeu, with more than two decades of experience in the sector, joined other speakers of recognised prestige in the world of coaching and personal branding. In addition, Carmen Garcia Vilar, head of Territory Management at the PAV, participated as a student in this programme.

Equitable and successful future

The initiative has highlighted the fundamental role of women in the sector, highlighting their valuable contribution and reaffirming their leadership positions. The experience, passion and vision of women leaders in the maritime-port industry are forging the way towards a more equitable and successful future,” García Vilar highlighted after the event.

Elvia Bustavino, Deputy Administrator of the Panama Maritime Authority and ViceMinister of Maritime Affairs, has collaborated with Valenciaport and the Valenciaport Foundation for the development of her participation in the event. Bustavino has been one of the promoters of #LIFE and is also a student of the Master in Port Management and Intermodal Transport taught at the Port of València.
