July 11, 2020, is the 16th China Navigation Day. The ‘2020 China Navigation Day Forum’ with the theme of ‘Joining Hands to Maintain International Logistics Flow’ was held in Shanghai.

In the face of the international economic and trade situation under the background of the epidemic, this forum aims to put forward inspiring ideas and suggestions for safeguarding the international logistics supply chain system and promoting the sustainable growth of the world economy.

Senior leaders from international maritime agencies and transportation authorities, leaders in the global shipping industry, and well-known experts and scholars discussed the development of international shipping and the guarantee of logistics supply chain under the new situation.

International shipping centres

At the meeting, the ‘Xinhua Baltic International Shipping Center Development Index Report (2020)’ was released.  For the first time, Shanghai ranked among the top three international shipping centers, second only to Singapore and London.

The container throughput of Shanghai Port has been ranked for ten consecutive times, the collection and distribution system has been continuously improved, and the service level and business environment have been steadily improved. The shipping centre in the Asia-Pacific region represented by Shanghai has maintained a good upward momentum, and the global shipping resource allocation capacity has accelerated ‘eastward shift.’
