Rodman will start the construction of a new 26 m length passenger catamaran, model Rodman 80. With the option for a second twin vessel, Rodman is delighted that the Canary Islands shipping company, one of the most important in the country, has entrusted the professional vessels.

Over the last few years, Rodman has successfully designed, built and delivered different types of catamarans, not only for passengers, but also for other uses, such as hydrographic and research or offshore support catamarans for offshore windmill platforms.

The experience achieved in this type of constructions, places Rodman as one of the reference European boatbuilders in this type of vessels. The new vessel, whose construction will begin in the next few days, will set a new milestone for Rodman, since they are one of the most important shipowners in their country, firmly committed to quality and comfortable passenger transport.

After several months of negotiations, the Canary Islands shipping company Fred. Olsen Express, has entrusted Rodman to carry out the expansion of its current fleet of vessels. This new Rodman 80, has been specifically designed for the transport of passengers without a vehicle, focused on sightseeing tourism, in accordance with the requirements established by the shipowner.

The new Rodman 80, 26 m in length and 9.80 m in beam, will have a capacity for 250 passengers and will be fitted with two engines of 1,450 HP each. The vessel will also offer an indoor and outdoor deck, which is highly demanded by the tourists, as well as a bar-cafeteria service and on-board entertainment.

The construction of this new catamaran represents a new challenge for the Shipyard, where all its experience and qualifications in the construction of this type of vessels will be perfectly combined with its usual quality standards and with the requirements of the Owner.

The completion of this new contract consolidates Rodman’s position as one of the world leaders in the construction of professional GRP boats and vessels. All the professional vessels and leisure boats built by the shipyard are highly valued and recognised by the most demanding shipowners, as well as by governmental agencies and institutions all over the world.
