Port of Sines - key role in green port concept in Portugal

Belgium intends to position itself in carbon neutrality, providing Sines the opportunity to attract new investments

With a focus on the development and investment in renewable energies, on the great axis of green hydrogen to be developed in Sines and on the potential for cooperation between the two countries, this meeting reinforced energy cooperation between Portugal and Belgium, with the Port of Sines playing a key role in the development of the green port concept in Portugal and in the reception and storage of liquefied natural gas.

With the goal of testing various sources of ‘green energy’ and new technologies, Belgium intends to position itself in carbon neutrality, providing Sines the opportunity to attract new investments that may find port support for foreign trade.

Strategic Plan of the Port of Sines

It should be remembered that the energy transition is one of the pillars of the Strategic Plan of the Port of Sines and the basis of the NEXUS Agenda, which aims to innovate and digitise the logistics chain and decarbonise the Sines logistics corridor, developing innovative applications and services that contribute to streamlining the green transition process and sustainability of the logistics chain served by the port.
