Upcoming energy transition

Delft University's visit to Genoa featured on-site inspections to a selection of Italy's premier shipyards

The delegation was received by the management at the Port Authority headquarters of Palazzo San Giorgio, with a general presentation of the Ports of Genoa, Pra', Savona, and Vado as the Southern European alternative to the Northern Range ports.

A focus was dedicated to the 2.3-billion euro major infrastructure investment programme underway in the Ligurian ports aimed at improving the overall accessibility of the Ports of Genoa by sea/road/rail/air and to the upcoming energy transition in progress across the shipping industry and the Italian ports' firm commitment to cold ironing and renewable energy.

Delft University's visit to Genoa featured on-site inspections to a selection of Italy's premier shipyards: Fincantieri, a pioneer in the construction of cruise ships, and Amico & Co., specialised in the worldwide super and mega-yacht refit, repair, and conversion sector.
