With a career that has spanned both the private and public sectors, before joining BAE Systems, Kelvine Tomlinson also held senior commercial and procurement positions at HMRC and its predecessor - HMC&E.

He said, "It’s an exciting time for the company and the wider maritime sector, and helping to drive this period of growth is a challenge I’m looking forward to. It’s the reason I’m here."

Cammell Laird’s special place

Hailing from Greater Manchester, Kelvine said he was all too aware of the importance of Cammell Laird’s special place in the industry, history, and in the hearts of local people.

He adds, "I think most people know about Cammell Laird’s heritage and its importance to local communities. That was part of what attracted me."

Robust supply chain

Providing a snapshot of what his role will involve, Kelvine Tomlinson continues, "I’ll be focussing on developing a resilient and robust supply chain and identifying, developing, and working with our strategic suppliers. In the coming months, we’ll be working with our partner Hellios Information to introduce JOSCAR, a collaborative tool that acts as a single repository for compliance information, enabling us to determine if a supplier is ‘fit for business’."

Governance and Compliance Act

Kelvine Tomlinson adds, "Governance and compliance act as the gateway to policy, process, and procedure. By delivering these hand-in-hand with firm and robust contracts, we will ensure risk to our customers is mitigated by way of quality, cost, and schedule control."

Lisa Grant, Group Commercial and Procurement Director, said, "Kelvine brings a wealth of experience and joins us at a time of significant growth. A robust supply chain is integral to that continued growth and right across our businesses we’re bringing in the best people to help drive that forward."
