Authority comment

Speaking on the sidelines of the diplomat briefing, Staff Brigadier (Sea) Abdulbaqi S. Al-Ansari, Chairman of DIMDEX said: “We are honoured to receive ambassadors, defence and commercial attachés, and representatives from the military at today’s briefing in preparation of DIMDEX 2020. Building on the success of our last edition, the DIMDEX organising committee remains committed to the highest standards of logistical pre-event planning to ensure the smooth progression of the event.

Topics discussed at the briefing

Notably, the briefing covered the day-to-day event programme, hospitality and service offers for VIP delegations, Hamad Port logistics and security for visiting warships, and the naval crew sports tournament, among other topics.

Details on the highly-anticipated Middle East Naval Commanders Conference (MENC) - a key feature of every DIMDEX edition - were released, including this year’s keynote speakers and the 2020 conference theme: “Resilience in the Maritime Domain – Confronting Asymmetric Threats”.

MENC will bring together renowned academics and practitioners from around the world to engage in panel discussions and discuss the latest regional and international trends in maritime defence and security on a commercial, strategic and operational level.

Visitors and participants

DIMDEX 2020 is set to return with a larger exhibition space spanning over 35,000 sqm at the QNCC Following a highly successful 12-year run, DIMDEX 2020 is set to return with a larger exhibition space than ever before, spanning over 35,000 sqm at the QNCC, where key decision-makers, official VIP delegations and senior government ministers will be able to meet and discuss future procurement needs.
