On the morning of 29th October 2020, along with its steam whistle, the 1200TEU container ship AS FLORA set sail from Yangpu Port, Hainan.

CULines held a ceremony at Xiaochantan Terminal of Yangpu Port to celebrate the maiden voyage of its China-Vietnam international liner service (SHX) from Yangpu.

Present at the ceremony were partners of the Hainan Provincial Port and Shipping Administration, the Economic Development Bureau of Yangpu Economic Development Zone, the Provincial Department of Finance, the Provincial Administration for Market Regulation, the Provincial Tax Service, the Yangpu Maritime Safety Administration, the Customs of Yangpu Economic Development Zone, the Yangpu Entry-Exit Frontier Inspection Station, the Hainan Provincial Vessel Pilot Station, Hainan Harbor & Shipping Holding, New Golden Sea Shipping of COSCO SHIPPING and other port and shipping companies, as well as representatives of cargo owners.

Together they witnessed the departure of CULines’s very first China-Vietnam international liner service that sets off from Yangpu Port.

Speech by industry pioneer

Raymond Chen, Chairman of CULines, Wang Shanhe, Chairman of Hainan Harbor & Shipping, Huang Peng, Member of the Working Committee of Yangpu Economic Development Zone and Director of the Transport and Maritime Administration, delivered speeches on the occasion.

On the development of Hainan FTP

Chairman Raymond Chen reaffirmed CULines’ determination to contribute to the development of Hainan FTP

In his speech, Chairman Raymond Chen reaffirmed CULines’ determination to contribute to the construction and development of Hainan Free Trade Port (Hainan FTP).

Continued efforts will be spared to plan the company’s international lines and logistics business with Yangpu as the base and along the Belt and Road. CULines will continue to increase investment in Hainan, work with customers and partners to boost the growth of shipping, commerce and logistics in Hainan, and grow together with Hainan FTP.

China-Vietnam service SHX

The launch of the China-Vietnam service SHX is a milestone in the history of the Yangpu Port, Chairman Wang Shanhe noted. And it marks a great progress made by Yangpu in gathering diversified shipping elements with a global vision.

Director Huang Peng said, the SHX service co-launched by CULines and New Golden Sea Shipping has strengthened Yangpu’s tie with the Yangtze River Delta and the Pearl River Delta. Thanks to that, Hainan is expected to be a more integral part of the Maritime Silk Road, and optimize Yangpu's shipping network for foreign trade, which lays a foundation for Yangpu to become a shipping hub connecting China with ASEAN.

Launching the maiden voyage

Eminent guests present at the event pushed the control rod to launch the maiden voyage of the service

Afterwards, Raymond Chen, Chairman of CULines, together with Huang Peng, Member of the Working Committee of Yangpu Economic Development Zone and Director of the Transport and Maritime Administration, Wang Shanhe, CPC Committee Secretary of Hainan Harbor & Shipping, Peng Chong, Director and CPC Committee Secretary of Hainan Provincial Port and Shipping Administration, and Liu Guanghui, Deputy General Manager of New Golden Sea Shipping, pushed the control rod to launch the maiden voyage of the service.

Along with the long steam whistle, AS FLORA lifted its anchor and slowly departed from Yangpu Port, heading for Haiphong, Vietnam.

Broadening the transportation channel

The SHX service is operated by two 1200TEU container ships from CULINES and New Golden Sea Shipping, a subsidiary of COSCO SHIPPING.

The new route is expected to broaden the transportation channel between Hainan and Southeast Asia, and weave a denser international liner route network. By improving the logistics system of Hainan Free Trade Island, CULines is prepared to help attract more businesses to settle in Hainan.
