David McGinley, CEO of APCL Group said, “Today we celebrate Armed Forces Day, and Cammell Laird, part of the APCL Group, is proud to celebrate our close links with the UK’s military."

Not only are we proud to serve the Ministry of Defence through our dedicated Defence Division, but also count several former service personnel as some of our most valued employees."

Silver Award holders

We are proud to be Silver Award holders of the MoD’s Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) and this year, we have submitted our Gold application, offering 10 days of paid leave to our Reservist and Cadet Adult Forces Volunteer employees."

Last year, Cammell Laird was delighted to sponsor the Battle of Atlantic 80th anniversary commemorations which saw the company provide security for the event and sponsor the official gala dinner. Cammell Laird also took part in the concert and marine band procession as well as the wreath laying."

Building and repairing navy vessels

We are equally proud of the role Cammell Laird has played by both building and repairing navy vessels. During World War II Cammell Laird produced nearly 200 commercial and military vessels in support of the UK war effort."

Cammell Laird has gone on to support the build of the Royal Navy’s Type 26 Frigate and Dreadnought Class Submarine on behalf of BAE Systems and manufactured a substantial part of Her Majesty’s QEC Class Aircraft Carriers on behalf of the Aircraft Carrier Alliance."

Naval Defence

Today the APCL Group supports 100% of the Royal Fleet Auxiliary (RFA)’s fleet, which sustains our Naval Defence around the world."

Our commitment to the armed forces lies at the heart of our business and everything we do.”
