Blue Water Singapore was contracted by one of its reliable clients to transport two large gas engines and appertaining equipment from Bergen Engines in Norway to Singapore.
Engine transportation
After intermediate storage, the two gas engines and five containers were loaded onboard
The first part of the job included the transport of the two gas engines weighing 152 tons each from the manufacturer in Hordvikneset to Bergen in Norway. In August, a special crane barge was hired for the transshipment via small coastal tonnage as the normal heavy lift vessels would not be able to berth at the designated quay in Hordvikneset.
After intermediate storage in the port of Bergen, the two gas engines and five containers of appertaining equipment were loaded on board a heavy lift vessel and shipped to Singapore.
Handling special vessel
“The heavy lift vessel arrived on time in Singapore, and the cargo was safely discharged into a dedicated storage area. The handling of the storage involved complicated jacking operations of the two gas engines, which was successfully completed with assistance from our in-house engineering team and trusted partners."
"The two engines are now stored at a local warehouse until final delivery will take place next year,” says Therkel Iversen, Project Manager, Blue Water Singapore, who controlled this successful job with great support from Blue Water’s Project teams in Norway and Denmark.
