Blue Water acquires J. Lauritzen’s Eftf’s thermo activities – which mainly include road transport and rail solutions of food products between Italy, Benelux and Scandinavia - with effect from 1 January. The southbound traffics are primarily seafood and meat products and the northbound are fruit and vegetables to the Scandinavian consumers.

We are pleased to take over a business that fits well into the existing strategy for our reefer activities. Our position will be strengthened and our existing traffics supplemented in an optimum manner. We look forward to the enhancement of our possibility for a rail solution which we expect will become an even more popular transport method in the future due to its climate compatibility compared to traditional road transport,” says Bent Rasmussen, Director for Blue Water’s Reefer Road Division.

Flexible and customised solutions

Blue Water’s Reefer Road activities are primarily focused on north and southbound traffics in Europe. With the acquisition of these new activities Blue Water will be able to offer existing and new customers even more flexible and customised solutions. An essential part of the service is reloading and consolidation of south as well as northbound cargo at terminals in both Denmark and abroad.

On top of the activities, Blue Water expects to take over a minor number of employees from Northern Jutland who will form part of Blue Water’s large reefer team in Aalborg consisting of 25 colleagues. CEO of J. Lauritzen’s Eftf. Kristian Svarrer is pleased with the agreement with Blue Water.

We wish to concentrate our activities in Esbjerg, where we will focus on our core business, which is dry cargo, warehousing, logistics and port services. We have been satisfied with the development of our reefer activities, but believe that selling the activities will be better for the customers and for the further development,” says Kristian Svarrer.
