Maersk welcomes second engineer onboard Laura Mærsk
What is it like being part of the crew onboard Laura Mærsk, the world’s first container vessel sailing on green methanol?
12 years of operating Maersk vessels, and yet challenges and exciting experiences have not yet ceased to come along for Second Engineer, Luzviminda Ornopia. As part of the crew onboard, the new first of its kind vessel, Luzviminda runs the daily operations of the engine room and is excited to share that even though she have years of experience managing engines running on heavy fuels, she continues to learn new things about the methanol driven engine.
"With this new methanol-enabled vessel, there are always new challenges, new learnings, and having all eyes on us, I can tell everyone that it’s working – we make it work!" says Luzviminda.
