Christening of the “Rio de Janeiro Express” by Hapag-Lloyd
Welcoming a new state-of-the-art vessel to the fleet: the “Rio de Janeiro Express”! To do so, a festive naming ceremony was held at the port of Manzanillo, Mexico. Along with its sister's vessels, the “Rio de Janeiro Express” spans a length of 335 metres and a width of 51 metres. The new addition to the fleet can carry up to 13,200 20-foot standard containers and offers a remarkable number of 2,220 reefer plugs for temperature-sensitive cargo.
“Rio de Janeiro Express” will operate in the AN1 service, having embarked on her journey from Busan, South Korea, and sailing directly to Manzanillo. Subsequently, she will continue her voyage to further ports, including Lazaro Cardenas, Callao, Iquique, Puerto Angamos, Valparaiso, Coronel, and finally back to Asia, calling at Yantian, Hong Kong, Keelung, Shanghai, and Ningbo, before returning to Busan once again.
