With the aim of boosting Renewable Energy infrastructure in Chile, a significant global player in renewable energies, focused on the promotion, construction, and operation of power generation facilities from renewable sources, has partnered with WEG to acquire essential equipment for their project: a large-scale power transformer.
WEG supplies large-scale power transformer
The transformer will play a vital role in the wind farm's energy infrastructure, handling voltage regulation
Destined for a wind farm located in the northern region of Chile, the transformer weighs 435 tons and has approximate dimensions of 4 metres in height, 12 metres in length, and 5 metres in width, with a maximum power of 350 MVA and voltage of 550 CDC/33 kV.
The wind farm is expected to generate an installed capacity of 793.6 MW, sufficient to supply more than 679 thousand Chilean homes. The transformer will play a vital role in the wind farm's energy infrastructure, handling voltage regulation between different parts of the circuit in high-capacity power systems.
Efficient transmission of electrical energy
This will enable the efficient transmission of electrical energy over medium and long distances in an economical and effective manner.
This supply represents a significant step towards a more sustainable and energy self-sufficient future for Chile and marks an important milestone for WEG in terms of manufacturing capacity, technology, logistical complexity, and commitment to sustainable projects.
