Unmanned Survey Solutions are delighted to welcome Phil Crump (IHO Category A Hydrographic Surveyor) to their team.

Vast marine industry knowledge

Phil Crump has excellent knowledge and experience with a range of survey equipment and processing software, post having completed projects, including navigation surveys for UKHO, wreck investigations, sub-sea inspections, pre- and post-lay surveys, and subsea photogrammetry.

He is now skilled in the mobilisation of nearshore and offshore vessels, following right through to data processing QC and data deliverables.

USV Operations

Phil Crump has also been part of the Remote Operations Control (ROC) team

In Phil Crump’s first few months in the new role, he has been operating USV’s in and around the United Kingdom. He was part of a 3-month deployment for a construction project in Merseyside, using the Inception USV, with a Norbit multi-beam and SBG Ekinox INS, to monitor dredge fill operations.

Phil Crump has also been part of the Remote Operations Control (ROC) team, utilising the larger USV Accession, where he was assisting with the acquisition of high resolutions SONIC2024 multi-beam data in Falmouth waters, in the United Kingdom.

New technologies in remote surveying

Phil Crump, Hydrographic Surveyor at Unmanned Survey Solutions, said “My biggest challenge so far has been getting to grips with remote surveying. I’m amazed at the new technology that is coming online and am excited to be part of such an innovative team, exploring, researching and developing USV’s to their full potential.

With broad interests that range from finding and diving on wrecks, and surfing the Cornish waves, Phil Crump is now working in the ideal location to indulge in these hobbies. If he has any spare time left, Phil Crump can be found drinking hoppy beers and gin and tonic, or bouldering with friends.
