To safeguard the oceans, Unigreen Marine S.A. (UMS) and Evergreen Marine (Latin America) S.A. (ELA) organised beach cleaning activities on September 4. Evergreen Marine Kaohsiung Terminal Division followed suit with a beach cleaning activity in Taiwan on October 16.
As part of sustainable business practices, UMS and ELA called for employees to participate in the beach cleaning activity organised by Panama Maritime Chamber in Panama City on September 4. Despite the mild weather, the employees were drenched in sweat after almost an hour of hard work.
Supporting environmental protection
Participants were required to wear masks for pandemic prevention, which made the physical activity even more demanding and exhausting. Through this cleaning activity, employees further understood the importance of protecting the marine environment and plastic use reduction is the key to preserving the planet.

Evergreen Marine Kaohsiung Terminal Division’s beach cleaning activity at Shanwei Harbor in Linyuan District on October 16 was organised in association with The Society of Wilderness. The day began with staff members of The Society of Wilderness explaining how the beach cleaning activity would be conducted and was followed by the presentation of a letter of gratitude thanking the company for its passionate support of environmental protection.
Protecting marine environment
Then, the beach cleaning activity began under the bright sun. They cleaned approximately 300 meters of beach, collecting around 167kg of various types of garbage. With the help of The Society of Wilderness, they classified and recorded the garbage, which was dominated by PET bottles and glass bottles.
The employees’ enthusiastic participation demonstrated their commitment to protecting the marine environment. Through this activity, employees learned that environmental protection cannot wait, and that plastic reduction is the key to protecting marine life and preserving the environment.
