In order to anticipate violations or dangerous incidents in the shipping and logistics industry in the country, especially those related to the contents of cargo/containers.
The Directorate of Marine and Coastal Guard Units (Dit. KPLP) - the Indonesian Ministry of Transportation in collaboration with the Australia Maritime Safety Authority (AMSAT International - Australia) held the International Maritime Dangerous Goods (IMDG) Code training, from March 25 to March 29, 2019 in Surabaya.
Representatives present
The government representatives, especially from the harbormaster and representatives from associations (INSA) and the logistics/shipping industry in Indonesia, included representatives from PT Salam Pacific Indonesia Lines (SPIL).
In fact, not only sending representatives, one of the SPIL Depot locations was also chosen as a training place for field practice with instructors from Australia.
Five-day training
In the five-day training, the participants were taught how to know all aspects of handling dangerous goods and marine pollutants, which include basic principles, detailed recommendations, operational practices for handling dangerous goods in terms of classification, packing, labeling, storage, segregation and emergency response measures in handling it.
