Serco, the international provider of services to Governments and the company’s partner, Strömma Turism & Sjöfart AB (Stromma Group) have been awarded a new contract to continue to operate the Djurgårdsfärjerna in Stockholm, for a further four years.
The contract is managed by the company, Djurgårdens Färjetrafik AB, which is jointly owned by Serco and Strömma Turism & Sjöfart AB.
Contract for Stockholm’s Djurgårdsfärjerna ferries
Every year, the Djurgårdsfärjorna ferries transport more than two million passengers in Stockholm. The ferries are important for both Stockholm’s tourism industry and public transport, and run between Slussen, Skeppsholmen and Djurgården, in Sweden.
We hope that this fruitful partnership can lead to more transport agreements in the future"
Commenting on the contract, John Whitehurst, the Managing Director of Transport, UK and Europe at Serco, said “We are delighted to have renewed this contract. Serco is an international company with wide experience of delivering public services, including passenger transport and Strömma Turism & Sjöfart AB has local knowledge with sightseeing ferry and bus transport services, and puts the customer's needs at the heart of what they do. We hope that this fruitful partnership can lead to more transport agreements in the future.”
Serco - Strömma Turism & Sjöfart AB partnership
Patric Sjöberg, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Strömma Turism & Sjöfart AB (Stromma Group), said “We are of course happy to have received this renewed confidence from the Stockholm Region to operate the Djurgårdsfärjerna. We will continue to provide the best possible service to both Stockholmers and tourists.”
Patric Sjöberg explains that the success of the collaboration between Serco and Strömma Turism & Sjöfart AB lies in the fact that the companies come from two different industries, with experiences that complement each other and strengthen the end result.
In 2013, Stromma Group and Serco won the procurement for the operation of the Djurgårdsfärjorna in Stockholm, Sweden. The contract has since been operated through the jointly owned company - Djurgårdens Färjetrafik AB. The new contract will commence on March 1, 2022.
