Sines was one of the ports invited by MPA – Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore to participate in an exercise that also brought together the ports of Hamburg, Tanger Med, Los Angeles and Seattle.
Framed within the international promotion of the NEXUS Agenda, the Port of Sines participated, for the second time, in the Singapore Maritime Week, the most important venue in the technological and innovation sector, focused on shipping, which took place between the 15th and 19th of April, 2024, in Singapore.
Port rules of cybercrime threats
This year's participation consolidated the contacts established in the 2023 edition with the MPA, which resulted on the participation of the Port of Sines in a Cybersecurity Table-Top Exercise (CyTx), whose main objective is to promote awareness among port authorities of cybercrime threats, through the simulation of a real scenario, while promoting the debate on the finding of effective mitigating measures, and enhancing the sharing of information between ports within the scope of PACC-Net – Port Authorities CIO Cybersecurity Network.
Increasing threats to the global maritime ecosystem
The increasing threats to the global maritime ecosystem highlight the urgency of a collective response, based on a close collaboration between port authorities, both in what concerns intelligence and scenario analysis, promoting predictive actions and cyber-resilience through the sharing of know-how and technical expertise in response to incoming threats, in order to avoid disruptions to the global logistics chains.
It should be noted that the Port of Sines is part of PACC-Net, along with the ports of Rotterdam, Singapore, Antwerp, Long Beach, Seattle, and Tanger Med, among others.
