The Port Authority of Valencia (PAV) delivered the traditional “socarrat” commemorating the arrival of the cruise ship Norwegian Breakaway to the Port of Valencia.
The head of Marketing and Cruises of the PAV, Francesca Antonelli, presented the gift to those responsible for the ship, which has docked for the first time in the Valencian precinct from Malaga.
Exploring the city of Valencia
The Norwegian Breakaway has arrived with 3,596 passengers on board, with reservations to get to know the proposals that València City and other tourist sites in the province offer their visitors.
The city of Valencia is a medium-sized destination for the sector, offering a wide range of activities. The PAV is working with the València Provincial Council and Visit València to diversify the tourist offer offered by the València destination for cruise passengers with sustainable experiences in municipalities of the province, beyond the Cap i Casal.
Socarrat
During this stopover of the Norwegian Breakaway, part of the passengers will go on different excursions around the city of Valencia and its surroundings to get to know the culture, gastronomy, and traditions.
Valenciaport gives a “socarrat”, the Valencian terracotta tiles decorated with seafaring elements that the captain of the ship that docks in Valencia, Sagunto, or Gandia receives at the gift exchange events that take place when a ship arrives in port for the first time.
