An existing close partner of Mersey Maritime, Nautilus International represents 20,000 maritime professionals in its capacity as a global trade union.
They include ship masters, officers, cadets, ship pilots, harbourmasters, seafarers of all kinds, and shore-based workers.

Each year Mersey Maritime holds the Maritime Exchange, a one-day conference that brings together pioneers from across the UK maritime sector. Nautilus played a key role at the event in 2022 and 2023.
In 2022, and again in 2023, Nautilus is a sponsor of the Maritime Exchange and Mersey Maritime Industry Awards, and the two organisations have joined forces on the union’s Sea to City mentoring initiative.
Mentoring scheme
Sea to City has been developed to support maritime professionals who are looking to make the transition landwards and are exploring their career opportunities ashore or in the city.
The mentoring scheme will pair full members of Nautilus considering a move ashore, with relevant Mersey Maritime members or stakeholders who will be able to offer guidance and support throughout the process. The first pairings are expected to commence in the autumn.
