The President of the Port Authority of Valencia (PAV), Joan Calabuig, will present at the World Ports Climate Action Program (WPCAP) summit the commitment to expand the leadership in decarbonisation and the fight against climate change that Valenciaport is carrying out ‘to the whole of our hinterland’.
The head of Valenciaport will defend the tractor effect of the Port of Valencia for the companies of the port community but also for all the agents in its area of influence.

“From the leadership we occupy for our work in the decarbonisation of the maritime and logistics industry, and as ports with a great commercial impact in our respective areas of influence, we are in a strategic position to advise and provide the necessary knowledge to other enclaves and companies in our area of influence on their path towards decarbonisation," explained Joan Calabuig in the run-up to the WPCAP summit.
The President of the PAV has travelled to Rotterdam for the meeting of this working group, which brings together 12 of the main ports in the world.
Specifically, in addition to Valenciaport, the following ports are members: Antwerp, Barcelona, Gothenburg, Hamburg, Le Havre, Long Beach, Los Angeles, New York/New Jersey, Rotterdam, Vancouver and Yokohama.
5th WPCAP CEO Summit
Throughout the day, port managers and other agents will discuss the actions being developed by the port and logistics community in the field of environmental sustainability. Specifically, the 5th WPCAP CEO Summit will work on three round tables on ‘National and Regional Leadership’, ‘Onshore Power’ and ‘Green Corridors’.
Joan Calabuig will participate in the first of these panels, together with the CEO of the Port of Rotterdam, Allard Castelein; the CEO of the Port of Antwerp-Bruges, Jacques Vandermeiren; the coordinator of Maritime Industry and Tourism of the German government, Dieter Janecek; and the Director of WPCAP and the Port of Vancouver Port Authority.

Joan Calabuig will present the programmes and actions being developed by Valenciaport in this field, such as the commitment to intermodality, railways, renewable energies, terminal electrification, mobility or innovation and digitalisation. Projects developed by the APV in which the port community and other agents and institutions also participate and are involved.
Five working groups
The WPCAP is an initiative to promote and coordinate the efforts of the ports to improve the environment by encouraging cooperation between all the agents in the logistics chain. The WPCAP actions are divided into five working groups:
