Forto, a provider of digitised freight forwarding and supply chain solutions, announces the appointment of Thomas Eisenblätter as Vice President of Global Sea Freight Management, FCL. In his new role, Eisenblätter will oversee the procurement and business development of the Forto offerings for international Sea Freight.

Eisenblätter brings more than 30 years of operational, business development and partner management experience to Forto. He joins the company after most recently serving as Executive Vice President Ocean for DB Schenker, where he was responsible for the Ocean Freight business unit with a strong focus on development and growth.

In this role, he also served as a member of the Management Board for Europe and drove the strategy and operations for a team of more than 2,000 people, serving thousands of customers around the world. "Thomas has demonstrated his ability to build and lead a strong sea freight setup and deliver new innovative solutions and services time and time again," commented Jochen Freese, Executive Vice President of Procurement and Business Development for Forto.

"His experience in delivering sea freight services across regions and trade lanes will play a crucial role as we continue to expand our business on a global scale." Prior to his time at DB Schenker, Eisenblätter was Managing Partner and Co-Founder of JCL Air and Ocean Germany. Eisenblätter has similarly held executive level management positions with Fr. Meyer's Sohn (COO Ocean and Air), Agility Logistics Santa Ana (Senior Vice President Global Ocean Freight), and Panalpina Ocean Freight Management (Managing Director Global Sea Freight).

Product management function

"Forto is driving the future of logistics in new and exciting directions - from their digital approach to their sustainability focus," commented Eisenblätter. "I look forward to joining the company at this exciting point in its journey."

Eisenblätter steps into a role formerly held by Johannes Saade, now appointed to a new role as Vice President of Sea Freight Products. Saade’s new appointment reinforces Forto’s strategy and an organisational structure that unifies logistics solutions and technology development under a single product management function. In this new role Saade will drive the end-to-end product vision, strategy, and the success of the Sea Freight offering across Forto’s markets.
