Babcock have committed to delivering Net Zero across their own operations (Scope 1 and 2) by 2040

The Carbon Trust confirmed that Babcock has reduced Scope 1&2 and business travel carbon footprint by 7% on an absolute basis, from 01.01.2019 to 31.12.2021. (Reduction achieved under the location-based approach on an absolute basis, 2019-2020 baseline to 2021.)

Since the launch of their ‘Plan Zero 40’ decarbonisation strategy in 2021, Babcock have committed to delivering Net Zero across their own operations (Scope 1 and 2) by 2040 and the delivery of a 2030 Science Based Target in line with a 1.5-degree pathway.

‘Plan Zero 40’ decarbonisation strategy

In April 2023, they submitted their Interim and Net Zero carbon reduction targets to the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).

Babcock’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO), David Lockwood said: “Driven by our purpose, we’re on a mission to reduce emissions and get to Net Zero across our estate, assets and operations by 2040. This recognition by The Carbon Trust is a positive step on that journey as we strive for excellence, each and every day, in service of a safe and secure world.
