The Ports of Sines and the Algarve Authority (APS) is part of a European project (ADMIRAL) that aims at transforming the way companies manage their supply chains and logistics.

Based on the Logistic Single Window (JUL), and the involvement of terminal operators, logistics platforms, multimodal logistics operators and authorities, APS leads the development of the pilot program ‘Portugal-Spain’, which aims at establishing a multimodal corridor, digital and green, between Sines and Madrid, promoting the use of the infrastructure in a more efficient way, so that CO2 emissions and the use of energy from fossil fuels is significantly reduced.

The ADMIRAL project

The ADMIRAL project: Advanced multimodal market for transport with low emissions and energy efficiency

The ADMIRAL project: Advanced multimodal market for transport with low emissions and energy efficiency, aims to offer, through the creation of a European marketplace, innovative and sustainability-oriented solutions and monitoring of emissions related to the logistics chain.

This cooperation by APS in the ADMIRAL project is also part of the strategy of the Port of Sines to increase its market share in the Iberian hinterland, using more sustainable logistics solutions with fewer emissions.

ADMIRAL project funded by EU’s Horizon Europe program

The ADMIRAL project is funded by the European Union’s research and innovation program - Horizon Europe and coordinated by the VTT Technical Research Center of Finland Ltd, running until April 2026.

The consortium includes 21 partners from 9 EU countries (Croatia, Finland, Germany, Greece, Italy, Lithuania, Portugal, Slovenia and Spain).
