5G connectivity, speed, efficiency, optimization, and real-time coordination are the keys to the success of the IMAGINE-B5G project.
IMAGINE-B5G project
This initiative – which is part of the innovation strategy of the Port Authority of València (PAV) – has been developed by Telefónica, the company XRF, ETRAIR and coordinated by the PAV, the Valenciaport Foundation and the iTeam Institute of the Polytechnic University of València.
The project aims to develop a pilot using advanced 5G communications, such as network slicing and network applications that serve as an enabler of other technologies that transform port security, such as generative AI, augmented reality, and digital twins.
Autonomous management via Gen AI
Through the 5G network, a drone was managed autonomously from the virtual command and control centre
To put them to the test, the Port of València hosted a simulation of the operation of the virtual control centre platform and technology developed as part of the project. During the demonstration, two emergency and security use cases were simulated.
Through the 5G network, a drone was managed autonomously from the virtual command and control centre, which had a digital twin from the Port of València. In this way, a surveillance round has been defined from the virtual reality platform from which the images that have been transmitted by the drone through the network will be displayed, and through the generative AI, alerts are generated when intrusions are detected in non-permitted areas.
Real-time video analysis
In the same way, within the second use case, the virtual command and control centre receives the images of the port surveillance circuit, also retransmitted by the network, and the generative AI detects through the analysis of the video in real-time the open doors of the areas where access is required to pass and sends the drone automatically to the place where the alert has occurred.
This pilot project demonstrates that the combination of these technologies facilitates the complete situational understanding of any emergency, allowing it to be managed remotely, immediately, and effectively.
